Vice President Joe Biden At The Jesuit Holy Trinity Catholic Church

Vice President Joseph Biden -D worshipped and received Communion Jan. 18 at the historic Jesuit administered Holy Trinity Catholic Church in the Georgetown neighborhood of Washington. His granddaughter had received her first Communion at the same church in 2008. Jesuit Father Lawrence "Larry" Madden's homily, according to The Associated Press, focused on God as a constant anchor and the promise of hope and change for those who believe. The assembly was asked to pray for "wisdom and integrity" to guide the new president and his administration. Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., also was at the Jan. 18 Mass. Holy Trinity is the same church where President John F. Kennedy worshiped while in Washington, including a morning Mass Jan. 20, 1961, before his own swearing-in.

Archbishop Charles Chaput on Joe Biden presenting himself for Communion

"I certainly presume his good will and integrity," said the archbishop, "and I presume that his integrity will lead him to refrain from presenting himself for Communion if he supports a false 'right' to abortion."

Vice President Biden's and NARAL

Biden got a 60% rating from the National Abortion Right Action League in 2007 and a 36 in 2003. (NARAL's ratings for Biden are very confusing. One part of the website lists him as having a 60% rating, another part says he has a 75% rating but was absent for five of the six votes. ) In 2006 he apparently got a 100% .

The National Right to Life Committee gives him a consistent zero.
