Papal Approval Of The Society Of Jesus

On September 27 in 1540 Pope Paul III officially approved

the Society of Jesus, a body of Catholic priests organized by St. Ignatius of Loyola in 1534 for missionary work. Today, the Jesuits are one of the largest Catholic teaching orders.

We are 32 short years away from the 500 year mark.

One wonders, at the rate the Society is going, what will it look like then? I read a statistical analysis that pointed out that in the US province, there is only a replacement for one out of 10 priests being prepared... and the average age of a US Jebbie is something like 69 or 70.

What will become of them?
